SHAH ALAM, April 3 — The second phase of the state stimulus package, Selangor Cares 2.0, would help to ensure that the food supply chain is not disrupted, says state executive councillor Izham Hashim.

The Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-based Industry Committee chairman said the state government initiative would open the opportunity for farmers to sell their fresh produce while maintaining the quality of their products during the movement control order (MCO) period.

“The Selangor government does not want this target group to be affected even with the restrictions imposed during the MCO.

“I urge farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen and agro-based entrepreneurs who are facing an oversupply to immediately contact my office or the relevant agencies,” he said in a statement via Facebook yesterday.

On Wednesday, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced a RM500,000 financial aid for agropreneur, that would benefit 5,000 individuals affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Another RM1 million funds have also been allocated for the distribution of seeds, livestock, equipment and raw materials to 2,000 agro-based entrepreneurs.
