Stay safe and use online platforms, contactless payment to shop, says MB

SHAH ALAM, April 16 — The public is urged to be a smart shopper during the Covid-19 pandemic by leveraging on the various online retail platforms and cashless payment methods.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said daily necessities have been made available at the tip of the fingers and can be purchased online without having to leave the house.

“In our efforts to combat Covid-19, we have to be smart in preventing the spread of the virus.

“There are many choices of online platforms selling everyday goods.

“And if we do go to the shops, do use the contactless payment methods or e-wallet,” he said on his official Twitter account, last night.

According to the data released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia on April 9, significant changes were found in the daily needs spending of the people before and during Covid-19 outbreak.

The report on the Special Survey on Effects of Covid-19 on Economy and Individual (Round 1), which was conducted from March 23 to 31, showed that people have seldom purchased essential items from the physical stores during the movement control order (MCO) period, which was enforced on March 18 and extended until April 28.
