An advanced system, SELangkah foiled hacking attempts

SHAH ALAM, May 18 — The high-security features of the Selangor’s SELangkah (Langkah Masuk Dengan Selamat) system has prevented several hacking attempts, says the Menteri Besar.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the contact-tracing application is safe as it has the ability to detect threats and attacks early.

“It is a secured system (SELangkah). No data has been leaked despite several attempts of hacking into it,” said Amirudin, reiterating that the system is only used for Covid-19 contact tracing purposes.

“SELangkah functions for (Covid-19) contact tracing. It is not for data mining or to be used for businesses purposes.”

Amiruddin added that SELangkah can also be used at private homes during the Hari Raya celebration.

“It’s a new norm for Hari Raya. After you greet ‘assalamualikum’, you scan the QR code before entering the house,” he quipped.

Amirudin was speaking at a press conference after revealing the Selangor Aerospace Action Plan 2020 – 2030 and the Selangor Darul Ehsan Aerospace Industry Coordination Office (S-Daico) at the Selangor state secretariat building (SUK), here today.

As of May 17, there are 28,464 premises registered under SELangkah with a total 3,300,800 logins recorded.

SELangkah was introduced for Covid-19 contact tracing to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Each individual premise is required to produce its own QR code through the selangkah.mbiselangor.com.my website or selangkah.my, and have it displayed for the visitors to scan.
