SHAH ALAM, May 14 — The Covid-19 screening operation at the Jalan Othman wet market and its surrounding residential and commercial areas in Petaling Jaya is almost complete.
The targetted testing had begun on May 10 when the PJ Old Town area was enforced under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), which affected some 2,900 people.
Petaling District Disaster Committee chairman Johary Anuar said a total of 2,150 residents in Zone A, B and C, involving 1,555 locals and 595 foreigners, have been screened.
“We will continue with the remaining door-to-door screening process involving some 20 residences with the help of the police, the Petaling District Health Office, Rela and the Malaysian Civil Defense Force,” he told SelangorKini today.
He said as of May 13, a total of 536 samples had tested negative for the coronavirus while the remaining samples are being tested in stages.
Jalan Othman we market area in Petaling Jaya was placed under the EMCO after 26 positive Covid-19 cases were detected in the area.
The EMCO, which is the eighth to be implemented so far, involves three zones in PJ Old Town.
