Five Selangor Agro Markets to operate for Aidilfitri

By Afix Redzuan

SHAH ALAM, May 19 — Four new locations have been selected as an extension to the Selangor Agro Market initiative to meet public demand, especially with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration around the corner.

Selangor Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-based Industry Committee chairman Izham Hashim said the new agro markets will be based at existing farmer’s market (pasar tani) locations in Section 13 here, Kelana Jaya, Saujana Utama in Sungai Buloh and Beranang in Hulu Langat.

He said this brings a total of five Selangor Agro Markets to be supplying goods for the Aidilfitri preparations, which includes the existing agro market in Bandar Baru Bangi.

“Insya-Allah (God-willing) we guarantee that the selling of the products will adhere to the price control scheme. I was told there is a price hike on livestock supply. We will ensure the fresh products will be sold at a reasonable price.

“For example, we will try to have chickens sold at below RM7.50 per kilogram and fresh beef meat at a maximum of RM35 per kilogram. There are places where the chickens are sold for over RM8 per kilogram,” he said in a statement on Facebook today.

The four new Selangor Agro Markets will be operating on May 22 and 23 (Friday and Saturday) from 8 am to 2 pm.

Izham added that the Selangor Agro Market programme has recorded RM10 million in total sales since it was first launched on March 27.

The Selangor Agro Market is located in Dengkil, Puchong, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam, the Bandar Baru Bangi community business centre, Selayang farmer’s market (pasar tani), My Farm Outlet in Putrajay and in Section 13 and Section 15 in Shah Alam.

For online orders, the public can browse www.agrobazaar.com, or visit the Agro Selangor Facebook page for further information.
