National unity working committee holds first meeting via online

PUTRAJAYA, May 14 — The National Unity Working Committee that also comprises all state executive council members held its first meeting today via online, chaired by National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique.

The Ministry of National Unity said the first meeting was a platform for discussion between the ministry and the state governments on issues related to unity, policies and programmes planned by the ministry for implementation at the state and district levels.

The Committee is scheduled to meet once every two months, the ministry said in a statement here today.

Subsequently, state exco members who chair the State Unity Action Committee in their respective states are to ensure the grassroots agenda continues, in the process strengthening the national unity agenda.

The State Unity Action Committee will be handled by the respective State Unity Directors, the ministry said.

The statement added that today’s meeting was to get feedback from the state exco members concerning the membership structure and the reference terms of the committees.

The meeting also shared several new programmes and initiatives that are being prepared by the ministry related to unity that needs to be mobilised at the state level.
