SHAH ALAM, May 4 — Many athletes are relieved with the relaxation under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) that allows non-contact sports to proceed outdoors, says the Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS).
However, its executive director Adi Faizal Ahmad Tarmiz had reminded the state athletes to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place by adhering to the safety and health rules as well as social distancing.
“Everyone must seriously abide by the SOP to avoid the emergence of a ‘sports cluster’,” he told SelangorKini when contacted yesterday.
Adi Faizal said all athletes and association officers attending training sessions, with permission from MSNS, must go through temperature checks.
He said the number of sports associations that will resume the training sessions has not been finalised and will be announced soon.
On May 1, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had announced that contact sports such as football and rugby are not allowed during the CMCO.
Selangor had yesterday said sports activities are allowed to be held outdoors and in community parks with social distancing rules in place.
Hiking and indoor sports facilities, including public indoor swimming pools and gymnasiums, are not allowed.
