SHAH ALAM, May 20 — The Selangor government’s e-kitchen initiative through Selangor Platform (Plats) and e-hailing and delivery service Grab Malaysia has so far recorded total sales of RM1.52 million.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the e-kitchen initiative had not only created a new normal but also helped traders to generate income during Ramadan and the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Alhamdulillah (All praises be to Allah), the Selangor government’s e-kitchen initiative had not only played a role in the new normal of life but also helped in generating economic growth and income.

“The total sales from the Selangor Plats and Grab initiatives so far have reached close to RM1.52 million, proving that the state government’s decision to introduce these initiatives is justified,” he wrote on his official Facebook account yesterday.

He added that the state government is proud to be leading in e-commerce and will continue to improve the system for the well-being of the people of Selangor.

Amirudin had visited several e-kitchen operation centres in the state including in Sungai Tua and found that the initiative received an overwhelming response from both traders and customers.

On April 18, the state government had introduced the Selangor e-kitchen initiative following the suspension of Ramadan bazaars this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The state administration had identified 77 collection centres, which includes 10 local authority halls and 67 restaurants that provide Ramadan treats in Selangor.
