Selangor records single-digit coronavirus infections for five days

By Ida Nadirah Ibrahim

SHAH ALAM, May 15 — Selangor has recorded only one new Covid-19 case yesterday, which makes it the fifth consecutive day the state has registered new cases in single digit.

Three townships — Ijok, Api-Api and Ampang Pecah — have moved into a green zone after no active Covid-19 cases were recorded, said the Selangor Task for Covid-19 (STFC).

“With the additional three townships in the green zone, 33 townships in the state are now declared green. This is a good development.

“However, if we are not disciplined in abiding by the modified conditional movement control order (MCMCO), the virus can spread again and we will have to go back to the restrictions under the movement control order (MCO).

“If you want the freedom, keep abiding by the rules!” the task force said on a Facebook post last night.

Based on the statistics provided by the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre of the Selangor State Health Department, Selangor has recorded a total 1,613 confirmed Covid-19 cases, out of the country’s 6,819 cumulative cases.

The death toll in the state stands at 21.
