Several areas near Jalan Othman wet market in PJ under lockdown

SHAH ALAM, May 10 — The Jalan Othman wet market and its surrounding areas in Petaling Jaya are placed under a two-week enhanced movement control order (EMCO) effective today until May 23.

In a statement today, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the targetted lockdown will affect some 2,900 residents and business premises in the area.

The enhanced control order was enforced after 26 confirmed Covid-19 cases were detected in the PJ Old Town locality.

“The EMCO is implemented to curb the Covid-19 infection from further spreading. This would also allow contact tracing activities to be carried from house to house during the lockdown period,” he said in the statement.

Ismail Sabri said the general rules under the EMCO is applied including residents are not allowed to exit and visitors are not allowed to enter the area, and all businesses activities are paused during the lockdown period.
