GOMBAK, May 20 — The contributions channelled by Selangor Menteri Besar Inc (MBI) for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival have lifted the burden for many of those that were financially hit by the enforced movement control order (MCO).

Nor Shamsuri Mohamed Shukri, 37, from Kampung Padang Balang, said her self-employed husband had lost his source of income ever since the MCO was enforced on March 18.

“This is the first time that we are receiving Aidilfitri aid from MBI and the state government and we are very grateful to have been remembered during these difficult times, especially now that the Hari Raya is around the corner,” she said.

Meanwhile, former Kampung Gombak Utara village head Mohamad Said Zakaria, 65, said he was touched to be one of the recipients for the state government’s Aifilfitri contribution.

“These supplies such as food essentials will help my family in preparing for the Hari Raya celebration,” he said.

Both Nor Shamsuri and Mohamad Said were met during the handover ceremony of the MBI Hari Raya aid of essentials, which was delivered by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari at Dewan Beringin, here today.

Also present were MBI chief executive officer Soffan Affendi Aminudin, Gombak district officer Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim, and Selayang Municipal Council chief whip councillor Amir Fazlee Khalid.

A total of 500 Gombak Setia residents had benefitted from the contributions.
