Townships in Selangor no longer classified as Covid-19 red zone

By Ida Nadirah Ibrahim

SHAH ALAM, May 13 — The improved Covid-19 situation in Batu has eased the township to become a yellow zone in terms of active cases recorded, which means all the townships in Selangor are now clear from being classified as a red zone.

In a Facebook post last night, the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) said this has also turned the Gombak district red zone to yellow with 35 active cases recorded.

This leaves the Petaling district as the remaining red zone in the state with 61 active cases.

“Hujung Permatang has also recorded no active cases which makes it now a green zone. Congratulations to the people of Selangor!

“However, the Covid-19 infection is still out there as there are those who are asymptomatic carriers. And this is why the modified conditional movement control order (MCMCO) will continue until further notice,” the task force said.

STFC had reminded the public to not be complacent in keeping a social distance, practice good hygiene, wear the face masks, and use the SELangkah contact-tracing system when visiting any premises in the state.

As of noon yesterday, Selangor recorded three new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total figure to 1,610 out of the cumulative 6,742 cases recorded in Malaysia.
