PUTRAJAYA, June 6 — Barbershops, hairdressing and beauty salons are set to begin operations starting June 10 with stringent standard operating procedures (SOP).
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this follows the sector’s contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of RM13.5 billion a year.
“The sector also employs 74,500 workers from 16,728 registered businesses.
Among the activities allowed will be basic haircutting and washing, shaving moustache and beard, hair treatment, manicure and pedicure as well as cleaning and facials,” he said at a daily press conference on the conditional movement control order (CMCO) here, today.
