Interstate travel allowed for marriage solemnisation

PUTRAJAYA, June 2 — The government has decided to allow interstate travel for marriage solemnisation purposes, during the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

Senior Minister (security cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob however said organisers of the solemnisation ceremonies must fully abide by the standard operating procedure (SOP) enforced under the CMCO.

“Many are seeking permission to travel interstate for marriage solemnisation purposes.

“As such, in today’s meeting (the Special Ministerial Meeting) we decided to give the green light on this but they have to follow the SOP which includes social distancing and avoid mass gathering,” he told the daily press conference on the CMCO here today.

Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government had also agreed to allow pre-wedding photoshoots in open spaces on the condition, those involved must comply with the stipulated SOP.

The shooting of film, drama and advertisement would also be allowed beginning June 10, he added.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the CMCO compliance rate nationwide had shown improvements after no compounds for Raya visits had been issued and no investigation papers were opened for spreading fake news on Covid-19.

He said as of yesterday, the Royal Malaysia Police had detained 33 individuals for violating CMCO.

On the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) students’ contribution, Ismail Sabri said parents would not have to make contribution payments as long as the institution was not operating.
