Kajang market reopens with stringent SOP

By Zareef Muzammil

KAJANG, June 3 — The Kajang market, which has been closed in May for disinfection, is now open to the public since yesterday under stringent standard operating procedure (SOP).

Kajang assemblyman Hee Loy Sian said only 30 customers are allowed to enter the market at a time to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection.

“Customers are required to scan the SELangkah (Langkah Masuk Dengan Selamat) QR code, register their names and telephone numbers as well as undergo temperature screening before entering the premise.

“The trade association has opened only one lane for entry to control the congestion in the market while ensuring customers abide by the social distancing rule,” he said.

Hee, who is also the Selangor Environment, Green Technology, Science, Technology and Innovation and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman, had yesterday visited the Kajang market after it has resumed operations.

Also present was Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) president Datuk Zulkefli Khalid.

On May 21, the Kajang market was closed for 12 days after five workers at the market tested positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Hee said no new Covid-19 cases were registered in the constituency aside from the cases reported involving foreigners at the Semenyih Immigration Detention Depot.
