Selangor records more than half of nation’s dengue hotspots

SHAH ALAM, June 10 — Selangor recorded a total of 61 out of the 99 dengue hotspots detected nationwide with Hulu Selangor district topping the list of cases.

According to information portal Public Health Malaysia, Apartmen Teratai in Hulu Selangor has registered 131 cases followed by Bandar Bukit Mahkota, Hulu Langat (56), Cyberia Smart Home, Sepang (54) and Mentari Court, Petaling (39).

New dengue hotspots were also detected in Taman Impian Ehsan in Hulu Langat with nine cases, Apartmen Mawar, Hulu Selangor (10) and Taman Perindustrian, Seri Kembangan (7).

“The number of dengue-related cases continues to spike despite the country registering single-digit Covid-19 cases yesterday.

“The public is advised to constantly monitor their surroundings especially in their homes and workplaces, prevent dengue breeding grounds and report to authorities and community leaders for prevention,” stated the portal that is operated by the Malaysian Health Ministry (MOH).

On June 9, MOH had forecasted a second wave of dengue cases from June until September, following an upward trend with an average increase of eight per cent a week.

A total of 48,584 dengue fever cases and 84 dengue case deaths were reported since January till June 6 this year.
