Amirudin: PN policies mirrors that of BN, lacking spirit of reform

By Khairul Azran Hussin

AMPANG, July 27 — The policies of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government is becoming too much alike to the former Barisan Nasional (BN) administration following several recent incidents on oppressing the press as well as the opposition party, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Selangor PKR chief said the move by the ruling party lacks the spirit of reform and that PN has begun to pave way for Umno and BN to return to power.

“Malaysia had jumped 22 places in the World Press Freedom Index under the administration of the Pakatan Harapan government, but now the ranking has dropped.

“In the beginning, PN had claimed themselves as the government for the people but now it seems to be otherwise as they have stopped channelling the allocations for the opposition representatives,” said Amirudin at the PKR Information Convention held at the De Palma Hotel, here yesterday.

Amirudin, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar, said PN may even be facing issues in deciding the party logo to be used by its candidates during the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

“PN will eventually be the puppet for Umno and BN… come GE15, PN candidates may use the Umno and BN logo and flags, then we shall see,” he said.
