One Covid-19 case recorded, lowest during second wave of pandemic

SHAH ALAM, July 1 — Malaysia has registered only one new Covid-19 case as of noon today, which is the lowest number reported since the second wave of the pandemic started in the country on Feb 27, says the Health director-general.

Datuk Dr Noor Hisham said the single case reported was an imported case, which had pushed the total number of cases to 8,640 with 144 are active cases.

“No local infection was detected among both Malaysians and foreigners today.

“This achievement is the result of the untiring efforts of everyone at every level of the society in playing their role, including incorporating the standard operating procedure in their daily routines,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Dr Noor Hisham said 21 patients have fully recovered from the virus, bringing the total recoveries to 8,375 or a translated to a 96.9 per cent recovery rate.

He said four patients are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with two of them requiring respiratory aid.

No fatalities were reported and the total deaths remain at 121.
