Perak Assemblyman for Slim dies in Bentong

IPOH, July 15 — Assemblyman for Slim and Tanjung Malim UMNO division chief, Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib, died in Bentong, Pahang this evening.

Perak Umno Liaison Chief Datuk Saarani Mohamad, when contacted by Bernama confirmed the matter, and said from information obtained, Mohd Khusairi, 59, collapsed suddenly while playing golf at the Awana Genting Highlands Golf & Country Resort.

Saarani, however, could not provide further details on the matter.

News of Mohd Khusairi’s death had also been posted by several state UMNO leaders on social media.

Meanwhile, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said Mohd Khusairi died from a heart attack, and his remains were now at the Bentong Hospital.

On behalf of the state administration and the people of Perak, he conveyed his condolences to the late Mohd Khusari’s family and described his death as a big loss to the state, the constituents of Slim, and Tanjung Malim UMNO.

“I have also lost a friend who is like family to me.

“May Allah bless his soul and place him among the pious and faithful, and may his family members be strong is facing this test,” he said in a statement today.

Condolences were also shared by UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, UMNO secretary-general and Pontian MP Seri Ahmad Maslan in their social media accounts.
