SHAH ALAM, July 21 — Publisher of SelangorKini, TV Selangor and Selangor Journal is now known as Media Selangor Sdn Bhd after receiving approval from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) this month.
The use of Selangor name on the company was officially approved by the Selangor State Executive Council in June before the application was submitted to SSM.
Formerly known as Communication Corporation Sdn Bhd (CCSB), the subsidiary of the Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporation (MBI) was established more than 11 years ago as the official media of the state government.
Apart from the SelangorKini weekly newspaper and the TV Selangor online portal, Media Selangor also publishes newspapers and operates news portals in Mandarin, Tamil and English language.
“Along with the change of the company’s name, Media Selangor also introduced a new logo to standardise the company’s identity. This is part of the company’s rebranding exercise to give a new lease of life to the Media Selangor team, “said its chief executive officer Mohamed Fareed Mohamed Ashaaree.
In addition to the change of company’s name, he added all Media Selangor publications will use new logos soon as an effort to strengthen the company’s identity.
The move is part of the company’s efforts to strengthen its publishing operations and improve the professionalism of its over 80 employees.
