SHAH ALAM, July 28 — The Selangor government has enforced the mandatory use of the protective face masks by all civil servants since the modified conditional movement control order (MCMCO) was enforced in the state on May 4.

Deputy state secretary (management) Dato’ Zamani Ahmad Mansor said the circular had been distributed by the department heads and that the face masks are only allowed to be removed when communicating verbally.

“We have already issued the circular via the department heads to ensure that the public service workers wear the face masks.

“The face masks should be worn at all times the moment we exit our homes and even at the workplace, except when we are in a meeting while keeping a social distance as sometimes it could be difficult to hear one another with the masks on,” he said when met during the launch of the state-level 2020 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign at the Dewan Jubli Perak of the State Secretariat building here today.

Zamani said that the public is also urged to wear face masks when visiting state administrative offices.

He added that the state administration is prepared to abide by the guidelines set by the National Security Council (NSC) and the Federal government in efforts to break the chain of Covid-19 infection, including the new ruling on the compulsory use of the face masks in crowded areas and public transportation effective August 1.
