Selangor draws up future plans to break Covid-19 chain of infection

SETIA ALAM, July 27 — The Selangor government will begin on the future planning to break the Covid-19 chain of infection in the state soon after the Hari Raya Aidiladha holiday.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state administration will meet with the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) and the Selangor State Health Department to draw up the plan, following the recent consistent increase in new Covid-19 cases.

“We have mentioned this beforehand, this is a long-term problem and there is no solution to it until a vaccine is found. There are only two effective measures which are practising the standard operating procedure (SOP) and the enforcement of the movement control order (MCO).

“The state government is prepared should the MCO is reimplemented as this is the best move to break the chain of infection of the virus,” said Amirudin after the launch of the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Publicity and Public Participation programme for the MBSA Local Plan Draft 2035 at the Setia City Convention Centre, here today.

Amirudin had also reminded the public to keep adhering to the SOPs as the local authorities are able to continuously conduct checks due to shortage of manpower.

Yesterday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government would consider enforcing the MCO should the number of new Covid-19 infections reach three digits.
