SHAH ALAM, July 10 — The Selangor track and field athletes taking part in the 20th Malaysia Games (Sukma) are expected to begin training on the racetrack by early August.

Coach Simon Lau said the athletes are currently training on their own based on the programmes that have been assigned to them and are monitored via video recording.

“For those who are living outside the city areas, some of the parents are worried if they have to return to outdoor training sessions so we monitor their performance by using video recording.

“We are expecting for the training on the racetracks to begin on July 22 or early August, depending on the current developments during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period,” said Lau when contacted by SelangorKini.

Lau said 28 track runners will be sent to Johor for running events and as of now, 19 athletes are qualified based on merit.

In the 2018 biennial sporting event held in Perak, Selangor had bagged eight gold medals, making them the overall champion for the track and field category after 20 years.
