Three new infections, active Covid-19 cases below 100-mark

SHAH ALAM, July 2 — A total of 62 patients have recovered from Covid-19 today, pushing the total number of recoveries to 8,437 or translated to a 97.6 per cent recovery rate.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said three new cases were registered as of noon today, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 8,643.

He said this had brought down the total number of active cases below the 100-mark with 85 cases.

“Out of the total three cases recorded, one was an imported case while the remaining two local transmissions had involved foreigners.

“Two patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and both require respiratory aid,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Noor Hisham said the two local infections reported had involved one from the Bukit Bintang cluster and another was detected via a screening operation carried out before prison admission in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

He said no fatalities were reported today and the death toll remains at 121.
