SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — A total of 172 employees of the Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) took their Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) today as part of the company’s commitment to fighting against the immoral act.

The pledge reading was led by its chief executive officer, Norita Mohd Sidek, and was witnessed by Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director, Datuk Alias Salim.

Norita said those who made the pledge must understand their responsibility when performing their duties while rejecting bribes.

“MBI has to be a model organisation that successfully practices a high level of integrity with other companies or organisations in Selangor as well as Malaysia, this is what we hope to achieve.

“It should also reflect the state government’s success, therefore, MBI staff must wholeheartedly practice integrity,” she said during the pledge reading ceremony at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) here.

Norita said MBI had also formed the Integrity and Governance Department as part of its efforts to strengthen the corporate governance and to foster good values among its employees.

“I believe that any organisation that aspires to strive and is of value to the society have to ensure that its leadership practices the values of integrity,” she added.

Yesterday, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, had advised the enforcement officers in the local authorities and state government agencies to stray away from corruption or any activities that could raise allegations of misconducts.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had in response said the state administration will adhere to the Ruler’s decree and ensure that Selangor’s corruption-free track record will not be tarnished.
