ASNB announces income distribution payout of RM907.3 mln for ASM 2 Wawasan

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB), a wholly-owned unit trust company of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), has announced an income distribution payout of RM907.3 million for Amanah Saham Malaysia 2 — Wawasan (ASM 2 Wawasan) for the financial year ending Aug 31, 2020.

PNB, in a statement today, said the income distribution would benefit 890,038 unitholders who hold 22.6 billion units.

“Despite the very challenging stock market performance, influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic, the return of 4.0 sen per unit remains competitive and surpasses the benchmark average return of Maybank’s 12-month fixed deposit at 2.61 per cent of 139 basis points for the current financial year as at Aug 26. 2020.

“The ASM 2 Wawasan has recorded a realised net income of RM802.3 million for the first 11 months of its financial year on July 31, 2020,” he said.

PNB said the fund generated a total realised gross income of RM1.04 billion, with dividend profits from investments in listed and unlisted companies amounting to RM579.4 million, or 55 per cent, of total realised gross income.

Income from the sale of shares accounted for RM281.1 million, or 27 per cent, with the remaining RM183.2 million, or 18 per cent, derived from investments in sukuk, Islamic fixed deposits and other fixed-income instruments as well as other income.
