Diplomat hails Malaysia’s success in containing Covid-19

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 17 — A diplomat today paid tribute to what he hailed as Malaysia’s exemplary success in containing the Covid-19 pandemic, saying the victory is valued highly internationally.

Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Prof Dr Qaley Allahverdiyev, who is Azerbaijan Ambassador to Malaysia, said: “Malaysia’s exemplary success in controlling and coping with the spread of Covid-19 challenges is not only valued highly by Malaysia, but also internationally,” he said.

Allahverdiyev was delivering a congratulatory message at the investiture ceremony in conjunction with the birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, at Istana Melawati here.

Speaking on behalf of fellow envoys in Malaysia, he said the diplomatic corps, as official representatives of their respective countries, witness and recognise the full worth of the strong commitment of Al-Sultan Abdullah to enhance the Malaysian statehood.

“And we sincerely congratulate for what has been achieved,” he said.

Allahverdiyev also said that the diplomatic corps in Malaysia has high confidence that Al-Sultan Abdullah’s government will keep achieving remarkable accomplishments in designing programmes and policies to make Malaysia a prosperous, dignified and independent nation.

He said the diplomatic corps pray for the protection and prosperity of Malaysia and for all Malaysians under the leadership of His Majesty.

“May Allah the Almighty always bestow His Blessings upon Your Majesty and Your Royal Family,” he said, and conveyed birthday greetings to the King in Bahasa Malaysia.

Thirty-one people received federal awards, honours and medals today at the first session of the investiture. A total of 829 people have been conferred honours in conjunction with the King’s birthday this year.
