New wave of Covid-19 abroad, public told to remain vigilant

SHAH ALAM, Aug 26 — The Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) has reminded the public to take precautionary measures following the new wave of Covid-19 infections reported abroad.

The task force said the recent development in other countries is worrying as the new outbreak could also occur at home if things are taken for granted.

“Therefore, the people must continue observing social distancing, practice good hygiene habits, wear protective face masks, and record their details when entering premises using the SELangkah (Step in, Safely) system.

“By doing so, we would be able to curb a second wave from happening in Malaysia,” it said in a statement on Facebook last night.

Selangor had recorded three new Covid-19 cases yesterday, which included two imported cases, pushing the total infections in the state to 2,158.

The country saw an increase in 11 cases involving nine local infections and two imported transmissions. The accumulated number of cases in the country is at 9,285.
