SHAH ALAM, Aug 4 — A total RM300,000 financial assistance has been allocated for the repair works of the Mahaad Integrasi Tahfiz Selangor (MITS) in Kuala Langat, Banting, in which its hostel had caught fire early this morning.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the funds can also be used to upgrade the safety features of the school to curb a recurring incident.

“The state government is currently arranging the temporary placement of the students affected.

“We are also waiting for the full report from bomba (Fire and Rescue Department). The safety of the students is the top priority,” said Amirudin on a Facebook post today.

He said the suspected cause of the fire, which took place at 5.45am, was due to the electrical wiring.

The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) will review the total cost of the repair works, he added.

Earlier today, Amirudin along with Banting assemblymen Lau Weng San and Morib assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin had visited the hostel which places the 131 female students.

Hasnul had also given out a RM2,000 financial aid for the students’ welfare.

Form Four and Five students at present are temporary placed at the teachers’ quarters while the other students are on a short break.
