SHAH ALAM, Aug 13 — Surau Al Jannah in Section 23 here, reopens today after the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) is satisfied with the improvements made on its standard operating procedure (SOP).
Jais director Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said the approval was given after the test on three congregation members of the surau who were linked to an individual tested positive for Covid-19 came out negative.
“Yesterday, which was the 13th day of the quarantine, all individuals who were believed to have come into close contact of a Covid-19 patient had undergone a second screening test and are cleared off any infection.
“Jais had agreed to authorise the reopening of Surau Al Jannah and hope this incident becomes a lesson for all surau and mosque management to maintain the discipline standard and to follow the SOP,” he said to SelangorKini today.
Mohd Shahzihan said their Special Monitoring Committee on Mosque and Surau Compliance will continue to monitor SOP compliances to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
On August 7, Surau Al Jannah in Section 23 was ordered to close after one of its congregation was believed to have been in close contact with an individual who had contracted the virus from the Sivagangga cluster.
Religious school Kafa Integrasi Al-Jannah, which is located on the same premise, was also closed.
