SHAH ALAM, Aug 10 — Selangor sets to win the gold medal in the Mobile Legends e-Sports: Bang Bang, which will be held for the first time at the upcoming edition of the Malaysian Sports Games (Sukma).

Coach Mohammad Al Hatta Shokri said the state will be represented by seven players and that the best strategy is currently being planned out for the biannual national multi-sport event held in Johor next year.

“We have seven players and I will be focusing on them to ensure they give their very best.

“We are aiming for gold. I will be setting the strategy and the rest will be on the players’ mental strength to win this,” he told SelangorKini when contacted recently.

Mohammad Al Hatta said as part of their preparation, three players will be competing in the Mobile Legends Professional League for two months beginning August 28.

He said the international league is a good platform for the players to gain experience as well as improve their stress management skills as well as reading their opponents’ strategies.

The Mobile Legends multiplayer online battle arena was released in 2016 and requires two opposing teams to battle one another by destroying the enemy’s base while defending their own.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had previously said that the e-Sports industry can grow rapidly and is supported by the state government.

This has been proven through the Selangor Cyber Games, which runs through five editions, as well as its ‘stay-at-home’ online tournament held on April 8 and 9 during the movement control order period.
