Sultan of Selangor: Corrupt enforcement officers tarnish govt reputation

SHAH ALAM, Aug 24 — Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has voiced his concern over the recent reports on corruption, which reflects the people’s rejection towards such activities that could tarnish the image of an administration.

Sultan Sharafuddin had voiced his concerns in a statement on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook issued by the Istana Alam Shah.

The Ruler said such immoral act would tarnish the reputation and image of the government and the local authorities involved.

“If this continues, it would affect the people’s trust towards the enforcement departments when enforcing the law,” the statement read.

The Ruler advised the civil servants, especially those who are responsible for enforcing the law, should never be involved in any corrupt activities or any action that could open up the room for others to make allegations of corruption and malpractice.

“This includes the aspects of the abuse of power to benefit an individual or certain parties while on duty. Such acts should be avoided altogether,” read the statement.

Sultan Sharafuddin stressed that Islam had also strictly warned those who had been entrusted with position and power against corruption and power abuse as it is a betrayal of trust of the country and the people.

The Sultan had called for all state enforcement officers and staff to cautiously carry out their duties while complying to all the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulations that have been set.

“They must be just to all parties when enforcement action is taken. Caution when taking action should be a priority to maintain public order and peace.”
