Selangor’s economic success is result of racial, ethnic diversity — MB

SHAH ALAM, Aug 28 People of different races and ethnicity who choose Selangor as a location to make a living forms the strength of Selangor to become the main contributor to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and its progress.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said although there is a variety of people, unity and harmony need to be maintained, as well as ensuring the 63 years of experience in nation building is further strengthened and not wasted.

“Selangor is certainly a ‘melting pot’ or a potpourri (of culture) that brings together different ethnicities whether it is Mandailing, Jawa, Bugis or the Orang Asli since its beginning and became the choice (of location) for the Chinese, Indian as well as the Borneo peoples to make a living.

“Crises like the bloody 1969 incident and the Covid-19 pandemic bring us closer as they transport us back into the path of unity and harmony as enshrined in the Rukun Negara,” says Amirudin in his Facebook page.

He hopes this can be achieved through the Selangor State-Level National Unity Action Plan (PTPN) 2021-2025 which was launched yesterday.

PTPN 2021-2025 is implemented to achieve the aspiration of building a country that upholds unity and national unification within a five-year period based on the Rukun Negara.
