SHAH ALAM, Sept 15 — Drawing up the Belanjawan Selangor 2021 (2021 Selangor Budget), which will be tabled on October 30, is described as a challenging process following the economic slowdown due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government had to take the shared prosperity approach to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth that benefits all groups.

“The upcoming budget is different compared to the 2019 and 2020 Budget, whereby then, development and progress was running smoothly without any hiccups. This time around, there may be slight changes in the direction of the state.

“No matter what the challenges are, we are confident that with the potential and capabilities combined with the agility of the people as well as of the state administration, we will be able to face it together,” he said at the rebranding ceremony of the Idaman housing project in Taman Air Manis, Sabak Bernama, held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre, here today.

Amirudin had previously revealed that the upcoming state budget will include five main thrusts — agriculture, tourism and agro-tourism; public health, housing and urban liveability; microentrepreneurs, digitalisation and urban poverty; wealth creation; and the creative industry.

The public had also been called to submit ideas and suggestions for the upcoming 2021 Selangor Budget at www.amirudinshari.com/selangor2021.
