SHAH ALAM, Sept 17 — Residents in five districts in Selangor are advised to refrain from doing any activities along the coastal areas starting from September 19 until November due to high tide phenomenon.
Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said seawater level around Sepang, Kuala Langat, Klang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam is expected to reach the maximum level of 5.8 metres.
“This high tide phenomenon is expected to result in overflow of water inland and may cause floods at localities near the sea.
“Therefore, to those near the coastal areas especially in the five districts mentioned, you need to take precaution, avoid activities along the beaches and be ready for any possibilities,” said Amirudin in a video uploaded by Media Selangor.
State Disaster Management Unit predicted the phenomenon to take place between 5am and 8am on September 19 and 20, September 17 until October 19, and between November 15 and 16.
