Implementation of low carbon city efforts requires support from all

KLANG, Sept 30 — The Selangor state government is proud of the efforts made by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) to spearhead Klang’s agenda towards becoming a Low Carbon City (LCC) by 2027.

State Local Government, Public Transportation and New Village Development Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the initiative needs support from all parties to play their respective roles in order to enjoy a more comfortable life.

“The fast growth of municipal development in the Klang district has brought a large impact to the society and the environment.

“To that end, all parties must play a role to ensure existing challenges can be overcome together,” said Ng while giving a speech at the 2020 MPK Low Carbon City Award ceremony here yesterday.

He congratulated MPK on their successes throughout the implementation of the Low Carbon City including efforts to add more lanes for the Smart Selangor Buses to reduce carbon release and said other local authorities should emulate MPK’s efforts.

At the same event, Ng also launched the Report Book on Action Plan Programme for the Low Carbon City – Sustainable Development Goals (LCC-SDG) 2020-2022 and the MPK SDG Actions Report Book whilst accompanied by MPK president Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin.
