LZS channels RM882,815 to build 10 homes for asnaf in Kuala Selangor

TANJONG KARANG, Sept 21 — The Selangor Zakat Board (LSZ) has channelled a total of RM882,815 of tithe money to build 10 homes for asnaf (tithe recipients), the poor and the needy in Kuala Selangor this year.

LZS chief executive officer Saipolyazan M. Yusop said each house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms worth between RM80,000 and RM93,000.

“Since 2010, LZS had constructed 2,281 houses for asnaf, the poor and the needy in Selangor amounting to RM99.8 million through its New Home Aid.

“For Home Repair Aid, a total of RM54 million had been channelled to repair 3,457 houses belonging to the poor and the needy over the same period,” he told reporters after the handing-over ceremony of the new house aid recipients in Kampung Sungai Sireh here, today.

The aid was presented by LZS chairman Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail.

Meanwhile, one of the aid recipients, Juliyah Mohd Ishak, 49, said she was grateful for the assistance as she and her family can now leave in a comfortable home.

“Before this, we were renting in Parit 2 Sungai Burong (in Kuala Selangor) and for the past three years I have been living in my family’s home to care for my ageing parents,” said the mother of 11.

The food seller said she wanted to take her mother to live with her family because her father had passed away due to old age.
