Man held for drink-driving in Nilai

SEREMBAN, Sept 20 — A man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during an operation dubbed ‘Ops Mabuk’ at Jalan Persiaran Korporat, Nilai, near here yesterday.

Nilai district police chief Supt Mohd Nor Marzukee Besar said the 39-year-old man from Kajang, Selangor, was arrested after the initial breathalyser test carried out found that there was a high alcohol concentration in his blood.

“The suspect was then taken to the Nilai district police headquarters’ traffic division to undergo a second breathalyser test and it was found that the alcohol content exceeded the permissible limit,” he said in a statement here today.

The suspect was detained for further action and the case was being investigated according to Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he said.
