KUCHING, Sept 24 — Effective tomorrow, all travellers who wish to enter Sarawak from Sabah and Labuan are required to fill up the ‘EnterSarawak’ application on smartphones and attach their Covid-19 real-time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) results before the travel date.
Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said a decision on the requirement was made in view of the continuing spike of Covid-19 cases reported in Sabah lately.
“They will also be given a limited five-day entry pass in Sarawak. The visitors should also attach the return ticket (with the entry pass),” it said.
Passengers who fail to attach their RT-PCR test results at least three days before their travel date would not be allowed to enter the state.
Meanwhile, Sarawakians, permanent residents and visa pass holders of the state who are planning to return to the state also need to fill up their particulars at EnterSarawak and undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
They must also wear a wristband and undergo RT-PCR test on the second and 10th day of their return.
The statement said that frequent travellers between Sabah, Labuan and Sarawak, including those involved in essential services, would need to apply for a special pass from any of the divisional disaster management committees in the state.
It said the travellers from the three categories are subjected to take the RT-PCR test every two weeks and failure to do so will result in the cancellation of their special pass.
“All citizens and foreigners who wish to enter Sarawak must declare if they have been in Sabah or Labuan in the last 14 days. If they make a false declaration, action can be taken under the State Protection of Public Health Ordinance 1999,” it said.
