SHAH ALAM, Sept 1 — Sports associations and athletes are required to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that have been set for training sessions throughout the extension period of the recovery movement control order (RMCO).

Selangor State Sports Council (MSN) executive director Mohamad Nizam Marjugi said all sporting events are allowed to be held without spectators whereas organising of events at an international level is still banned.

“To ensure the safety of all, sports enthusiasts are advised to comply with the SOPs and are alert of the current developments on Covid-19,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.

Previously, the Youth and Sports Ministry had laid out several SOPs for sporting events, including scanning the QR code, health screening before entering a premise, wearing protective face masks, keeping a safe social distance between one to three metres for static sports and three to five metres for dynamic sports.

Training centres are also allowed to operate according to a scheduled basis and disinfection and cleaning process are to be carried out based on the usage of the premises. The use of additional facilities such as sauna and jacuzzi are barred.

On August 28, the Federal government had announced the extension of the RMCO until December 31, which was enforced nationwide since June 10. Enforcement action during the RMCO period is gazetted under Act 342 (the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988).
