Strong earthquake in Mindanao, Philippines

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 — An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck Mindanao, Philippines at 11.23pm yesterday.

According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the quake occurred 82 kilometres southeast of Digos City, Philippines.

The quake did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said.
