Water supply resumes in 1,156 areas, 136 in process as of 6.30am today

SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — A total of 1,156 out of 1,292 areas has fully recovered from water supply disruptions as of 6.30am today.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) in a statement today said their current water supply resumption recovery rate is at 89.47 per cent, with another 136 areas are still in the process of being restored.

The unscheduled water disruption took place after the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant (LRA) Phase 1, 2, 3 and Rantau Panjang stopped working on September 3 due to river water pollution.

The statement stated that water supply to eight areas in Group 1 have yet to recover despite being listed to be fully recovered at 12 midnight on September 7.

Also another 54 areas in Group 2 have yet to receive water supply at 12 midnight last night.

“Air Selangor is taking action to stabilise the distribution system to restore water to the area,” said its corporate communications chief Elina Baseri.

Consumers are advised not to store water and use water prudently to speed up the recovery process in the still affected areas.

To date, the Petaling region recorded a 95.72 per cent water supply resumption, followed by Klang/Shah Alam (59.32 per cent), Gombak (94.89 per cent), Kuala Lumpur (85.02 per cent), Hulu Selangor (100 per cent), Kuala Langat (100 per cent) and Kuala Selangor (100 per cent).

“Consumers are advised to obtain official information on water supply disruptions through the Selangor Water interaction channel and not spread unverified news regarding this disruption to avoid confusion to other users,” said Elina.
