Air Selangor: Water supply restored to 162 areas

SHAH ALAM, Oct 20 — As of 9am today, a total of 162 areas or 13 per cent out of the 1,292 areas affected in Petaling, Hulu Selangor, Klang and Kuala Selangor districts have received full water supply.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said restoration process is still underway to the remaining 1,130 affected areas.

It said a total 121 water tankers have been mobilised to supply water to critical premises such as hospitals, dialysis centres and affected residential areas.

“Consumers are advised to use water wisely to ensure restoration process at areas still affected runs smoothly and according to the scheduled water supply restoration plan,” said the statement today.

Those still affected can get water at public hydrants and local service centres and be reminded to adhere to the standard operating procedure during the conditional movement control order (CMCO). Its locations are listed on www.airselangor.com.

Air Selangor will update the status of its water supply restoration on all its official communication medium on its website, mobile app, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Yesterday, Air Selangor said a total of 1,196,457 users in 1,292 areas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur were hit by unscheduled water supply disruption following odour pollution in Sungai Selangor.

The areas affected include Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat.

The pollution detected at 2am yesterday had forced the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2, 3 and Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plants to cease operations.
