KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — Application for the Tunas Usahawan Belia Bumiputera Programme (TUBE), which is aimed at fostering an entrepreneurial culture among Bumiputera youths, will be open from tomorrow until October 25.
The programme has received an additional RM20 million allocation under the government’s National Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana).
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the TUBE initiative, run by the ministry’s agency SME Corp Malaysia since 2014, had trained 5,766 participants to-date, of whom 4,952 had started their own business.
“The programme has recorded accumulated sales of RM127.17 million and created 10,540 new job opportunities, including for the participants themselves,” he said in a statement today.
A total of 250 participants are targeted to be trained under the programme using the Penjana allocation, and priority is given to applicants who have been laid off but are interested in running a business full-time.
Through the programme, participants will be given exposure to the importance of account, human resources, inventory and stock management, as well as technology adoption in business such as for online businesses, marketing through social media, and e-commerce transactions.
This year, TUBE will be conducted online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
With a training period of seven days, the module has been enhanced and modified for easy understanding and the knowledge can be put into practice immediately after training completion.
