KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — British Airways has resumed flights to Kuala Lumpur from yesterday after a gap of six months.
The airline will operate four flights a week from Kuala Lumpur, giving customers in Malaysia convenient flying options for those who want to travel directly to the United Kingdom (UK) or beyond.
In a statement yesterday, British Airways Head of Sales, Asia Pacific and the Middle East Moran Birger said the airline will be able to take all eligible customers to London and beyond on its current flight network.
However, travel and entry restrictions and requirements apply, including but not limited to connection restrictions, documentation requirements, entry requirements.
Customers can book directly with British Airways by visiting ba.com, or by contacting their travel agents.
“After a long period of uncertainty caused by the global pandemic, we are glad to be able to offer four flights a week from Kuala Lumpur to London Heathrow, UK.
“We know many of our customers in Malaysia have been waiting to be reunited with their loved ones or to travel for business, and these flights will give them the opportunity to do that,” he said.
Additionally, in response to Covid-19, British Airways has introduced a range of measures to keep its customers safe and is asking customers to abide by the new measures to help manage the wellness of everyone travelling.
These include checking-in online, downloading their boarding pass and where possible self-scanning their boarding passes at the departure gate; observing social distancing and using hand sanitisers that are placed throughout airports; and wearing a facemask at all times and bringing enough to replace them every four hours for longer flights.
Customers are also urged not to travel if they think they have any symptoms of Covid-19, and cabin crew are asked to wear personal protective equipment, and new food service will reduce the number of interactions required with customers.
Customers must also ensure that they have everything they need from their hand luggage before departure, and where possible, store their carry-on bag under the seat in front of them.
The airline will clean all key surfaces including seats, screens, seat buckles, and tray tables after every flight and each aircraft is completely cleaned from nose to tail every day.
The air on all British Airways flights is fully recycled once every two to three minutes through high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters which remove microscopic bacteria and virus clusters with over 99.9 per cent efficiency, equivalent to hospital operating theatre standards.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said British Airways will be the third airline offering the Europe flight route.
He said MAHB is glad that more international airlines are resuming their flight operations at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
“To date, we have around 33 airlines that are operating in KLIA. We will continue to do our best in ensuring a safe airport experience for our passengers.
“We remain strictly guided by the International Air Transport Association and Airports Council International as well as the local authorities on all health and security protocols,” Mohd Shukrie said.
