Infectious disease prevention among focus of 2021 Selangor budget

SHAH ALAM, Oct 20: The Selangor government will be focusing on infectious disease prevention programmes in the Belanjawan Selangor 2021 (2021 Selangor Budget), which will involve recipients of the Skim Peduli Sihat (SPS).

Selangor Public Health, Unity, Women and Family Development Committee chairman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said a holistic and competitive health policy will be further improved to spearhead economic development as well as to ensure the people (of Selangor) can continue to enjoy better living standards.

“Currently, we are faced with main issues such as the high rates of dengue, Covid-19 and Tuberculosis or TB diseases.

“Selangor is changing its approach towards prevention and SPS cardholders will not only be focused on receiving treatments but panel doctors will also have to do assessment on their (overall) health level,” said Dr Siti Mariah when contacted.

She explained that a few pilot projects on disease prevention will be implemented in areas with high population density so that the state government will be better able to monitor the situation.

The 2021 Selangor Budget will be tabled by the Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari during the Selangor State Assembly on October 30.
