MB: Focus on digitalisation agenda to narrow income gap

By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — Selangor government will be focusing on the digitalisation agenda in 2021 to increase the people’s income.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state has to speed up the digitalisation ecosystem to narrow the income gap of the people affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

“We presented a lot of digitalisation agenda in the 2021 Selangor Budget to generate household income, (and) we will set up many programmes towards this.

“We will optimise digitalisation and increase the people’s skills by using digital platforms as an avenue to escape the economic slowdown,” said Amirudin during a press conference after tabling the state budget at the Selangor Legislative Assembly, here today.

A total of RM369 million is allocated to achieve the Premier Smart State and Digitalisation agenda in the state budget for 2021.

Amirudin said the move is to stimulate the economy holistically through the transformation of service, social, business and entrepreneurship, value creation and creative art systems.

He said the policy is to also to break the stigma that digitalisation will not kill jobs but instead create job opportunities.
