PD Immigration Academy turns into Covid-19 treatment centre

SEREMBAN, Oct 28 — The Malaysian Immigration Academy (AIM) in Port Dickson has been turned into a Covid-19 treatment centre for low risk patients beginning today, said Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

He said that the move was to help provide effective treatment to all Covid patients. Currently the state has recorded a total of 424 Covid patients undergoing treatment at three hospitals, namely, at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban, Rembau Hospital and Tampin Hospital.

“Those who are low risk (without symptoms) will be referred to AIM which has 200 beds, while those with symptoms will be hospitalised.

“As everyone knows, this is the first time we face 424 cases of Covid-19 patients being treated in the hospitals and this is a worrying time for us. However, we would like to thank all frontliners who always provide the best services,” he told reporters after chairing the exco meeting at Wisma Negeri here, today.

Aminuddin said that for the treatment of non-Covid patients, the state Health Department has implemented various plans to ensure that health services for those patients are not affected.

“We hope the community will provide full cooperation to frontliners to ensure that we can control and manage Covid cases in the state,” he said.

As at yesterday, Negeri Sembilan recorded a total of 155 new Covid-19 cases bringing the total number of cases in the state to 1,492.

Commenting on the Maulidur Rasul (Prophet Muhammad’s birthday) which will be celebrated by Muslims tomorrow, Aminuddin said that no celebration will be held given the current situation of Covid cases.

“I suggest that at this time, our top priority is our health. I will leave it to the wisdom (of the community) because if I say don’t (celebrate) it, many will pass judgment on me.

“They can still celebrate it if they are keen. However, the standard operating procedures (SOPs), including physical distancing and how many can be present at any one time, should be taken into account,” he said.
