Selangor records RM1.99 bln revenue as of Oct 29 — MB

SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 – Selangor’s revenue for this year has amounted to RM1.99 billion as of October 29, or 90.46 per cent out of the estimated RM2.2 billion for 2020, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Selangor Menteri Besar said based on the estimation, tax revenue recorded a collection of RM583.51 million (84.13 per cent), non-tax revenue RM1.17billion (92.17 per cent) and the non-revenue totalled to RM236.92million (99.85 per cent).

As for the state’s financial position, Amirudin said that operational expenditure for the state has reached almost 80 per cent of spending.

“The financial positioning of the Selangor state government as of October 29 (yesterday), is as follows: operational expenditure has reached 79.89 per cent of spending or equivalent to RM958.67 million, whereas infrastructure development spending has reached 53.33 per cent or RM604.21 million,” said Amirudin while tabling the Belanjawan Selangor 2021 (2021 Selangor Budget) at the Selangor Legislative Assembly, here today.

According to him, the state’s reserve via the state government’s Consolidated Fund, as of yesterday, recorded an amount of RM2,569.95 million, which comprised of RM788.76 million in the Consolidated Revenue Account and Consolidated Trust Account totalling RM1,781.19 million.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the total state revenue in 2019 was at RM2.32 billion, which recorded tax revenue of RM700.71 million, RM1,338.44 million for non-tax revenue and RM281.02 million for non-revenue.

A total expenditure of RM2.323 billion has been allocated for the state budget today themed “Shaping New Reality: Empowering Economic Dignity the Foundation for People’s Resilience” and comprises five main strategies.

Among the key focus of 2021 Selangor Budget are Selangor Digitalisation Agenda; Peaceful Selangor, Prosperous Ummah; Driving Value Creation and Developing Human Resource; Strengthen Sustainable Environment, Resources, and Food Security and Supply Chain; Revitalising Economic Recovery and Development of Industries.
