SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — The dilapidated area surrounding the Shah Alam Stadium here will be rejuvenated into a Youth and Sports City at the cost of RM8 billion.
Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the project will be developed via a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
“It is the state government’s wish to implement urban rejuvenation projects especially in high potential areas that are experiencing a downturn and deterioration due to old age.
“This initiative is planned to be implemented at the Stadium Shah Alam area in Section 13, with the Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM8 billion,” said Amirudin in his speech during the tabling of the Selangor 2021 Budget at the State Legislative Assembly, here today.
He added the development of the Youth and Sports City will use the Green Urbanism concept, in line with sustainable environment and smart city.
Previously on August 7, Amirudin said the total repairs cost to the 26-year-old Shah Alam Stadium is RM250 million, which include replacing its polycarbonate roof and wiring, which would cost RM30 million.
